Vedic astrology, at its core, was designed as a deeply individualistic tool for self-realization, much like the Vedas themselves. Over centuries, however, it has evolved into a consultative practice where specialists interpret charts for others, becoming a profession and livelihood for practitioners. This transformation occurred naturally—few people dedicate themselves to mastering astrological principles, leading most to seek guidance from experts, similar to how we consult physicians rather than studying medicine ourselves.

Both astrology and medicine represent vast fields with numerous specializations. Astrology, with its significantly longer historical presence, extends its influence across diverse aspects of life, intersecting with philosophy, astronomy, spirituality, religion, energy healing, gemology, and numerous other disciplines.

The parallel between medical and astrological consultation is striking. Patients typically accept a doctor’s diagnosis despite understanding little of the technical terminology—much of it derived from Greek and Latin roots. While ignorance is never ideal, it creates opportunities for exploitation. Blind faith and dependency can have significant financial consequences for the trusting consultant.

Fortunately, our information age has democratized knowledge. Media channels, internet resources, television programs, and books now provide abundant information about both medicine and astrology. This wealth of information can sometimes lead to confusion as multiple schools of thought present varying perspectives with diverse intentions. Nevertheless, with proper research and discernment, individuals can develop sufficient understanding to become more self-reliant and better equipped to evaluate the advice they receive during consultations.

The opportunity to be exploited exists equally with the opportunity to become informed and self-sufficient. However, a crucial point remains: without comprehending the essential philosophy and processes behind these sciences—whether health-related or astrological—even extensive knowledge fails to translate into meaningful improvements for oneself, humanity, or our ecosystem.

True astrological wisdom lies not in passive consultation but in active understanding that transforms knowledge into personal growth and genuine self-realization—the original intent of this ancient science.
